Information Literacy for the First Year Writing Series

The activities and lessons included here support the information literacy goals and course outcomes of the First-Year Writing Series.  Many of the activities address multiple goals and objectives.  Instructors are encouraged to use and/or adapt any of these based on the needs of your students. 

•   Think critically about approaching research

•   Engage in a cyclical search process

•   Evaluate the authority of information creators

• Analyze the significance of information formats

•   Identify the conversation around a research topic

•  Recognize the value of information
