NURS 520: Quantitative Methods in Nursing Research

Research Guide for students enrolled in NURS 520.

Navigating Information

There is a vast amount of material available to you through the SU Library website. Learning how to effectively search this wealth of information requires some persistence and patience. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Explore the library homepage and become familiar with the services offered.
  • Set up accounts in the databases you plan to use frequently. It allows you to save your work and see what searches you've done so you don't duplicate your efforts. Note: all EBSCO databases use the same account.
  • Use a citation manager like Noodletools to organize and manage citations (bottom of library homepage).
  • Tutorials are a quick and efficient way to learn about library services - use them.
  • AsUs - librarians monitor email and chat all day long and are always happy to help you.

Book and article databases

OneSearch searches multiple article and book collections and can be great way to see "what's out there" but using subject-specific databases like CINAHL allows for more in-depth searching.
