Late Night Against Procrastination: Avoiding Procrastination

Tips for Success

1. Do it first thing in the morning. If you’re dreading doing something, you’re going to be able to think of more creative excuses as the day goes along. Wake up, work on it for a short amount of time and you may just get into the groove.

2. Do it more, not less. If you find yourself putting off a task that you try to do several times a week, try doing it EVERY day, instead. Breaking up your work into smaller, planned segments can be better than dreading a late night work session all week.

3. Have someone keep you company. Studies show that we enjoy practically every activity more when we’re with other people. Invite a friend or classmate to meet at the library for some motivation!

4. Be prepared. Set yourself up for success by gathering all you'll need to get started.

5. Write it down. A written to-do list can be harder to avoid. On the top of a piece of paper, write, “By the end of today, I will have _____.” You might feel a quick thrill at crossing things off your list!

6. Treat yo self. Plan little rewards for each task you complete.
