The CSE Manual, 9th edition: Scientific Style and Format for Authors, Editors, and Publishers by CSE allows more options than many of the other citation styles. The Stevenson University Biology Department has chosen to use the Name-Year style offered in CSE.
In general, faculty ask students to use the full journal title, but CSE format allows for the use of an abbreviated title as well. Ask whether your instructor has a preference for the full journal title, e.g., Journal of Plant Physiology, or the abbreviated title, e.g. J Plant Physiol.
