What is a "windshield survey"?

What information do I need to complete a windshield survey?

The main components of a windshield survey are your observations, gathered in a systematic manner, about the community you're focusing on.  However, you may need background information to support your observations.  There are several types of information that you might use:

• Statistics.  Unlike other academic research projects, this project prioritizes the use of stats and other information from websites.
• Books.  There may be books written about the area you're observing.  Other books can provide background information on housing, infrastructure, businesses, public spaces, traffic, public services, and more.
• Articles.  As with most topics, scholarly journal articles to support the topics in your survey probably exist.
