Using Wall Street Journal (ProQuest)

Using the Wall Street Journal database from the SU Library

  1. Go to stevensonlibrary.org
  2. Click the Databases button and select W from the A to Z list
  3. Select Wall Street Journal (ProQuest) to get to this screen:

 

You can use the Wall Street Journal database to search in 3 ways:

  1. Find the full content (full-text) of an article you found in the online WSJ site.
  2. Keyword search for a topic you are researching.
  3. Browse an issue of the Wall Street Journal.

Find Full-Text of a WSJ.com article

  1. Go to the Wall Street Journal search screen
  2. Type in the title of the article within quotation marks (example:  "Steady Hiring Without Wage Gains Deepens Puzzle for Fed")

NOTE:  The highlighted tools at the top of the page can help you get the right citation, print and share the article.

3. Click on the Full text icon to view/read the article.

 

Keyword Searching for a Topic

  1. Go to the Wall Street Journal search screen
  2. In the boxes provided enter your keywords

(example:  employment AND “wage growth”)

Note:  You can limit the dates of your results.  This search was limited to articles published in the last 7 days – a very limited time frame.  Explore other date options in your searches.

3. Review the results list for your search and use the limiters available in the left menu to refine your search.  Using quotation marks around phrases helps to focus your results.

4. Click on the Full text icon to view/read the article.

 

Browsing an Issue of the Wall Street Journal

  1. Go to the Wall Street Journal search screen
  2. Use the Publication Date drop down menu to select On this date …

  1. Enter the month, day and year you want to view.
  2. Click the search button
  3. Review the results list and use the full text icon to view/read articles.

Note:  You do not need to use keywords or titles in this type of search.
