History databases can include both primary and secondary sources. Not all databases are entirely full text.
- Newspaper databases are entirely primary source materials. Be sure to use the date limiters when searching for a specific time period.
- Other databases may include primary data supported by scholarly essays and commentary, such as Historical Statistics of the United States.
- Scholarly databases, such as America: History and Life, index seconday sources including scholarly journal articles, book reviews and dissertations.
- Academic Search Complete includes both scholarly journals and popular magazines. It includes a few titles in full text as far back as the 1930s. Be sure to use the date limiters when searching for a specific time period.
