Finding OER Textbooks and Books

There are many OER textbooks available on nearly all topics. The OER textbooks currently used by Stevenson faculty are listed in our Maryland Open Source Textbook Initiative (M.O.S.T.) Commons Hub. If you're taking a course that uses an OER textbook, your professor should include that information in the syllabus and/or your Blackboard course.

If you'd like some more options, here are some sites that contain entire textbooks in a variety of fields:

B.C. Open Collection Collection of over 1500 textbooks and coursepacks.
IntechOpen Books Open access books from a UK-based project, focusing on the sciences (Physical Sciences, Engineering, Technology, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, with a small selection of Social Sciences and Humanities)
LibreTexts Includes textbooks in 12 content areas, including STEM, humanities, Spanish, and more.
Milne Open Textbooks Open textbook publishing initiative established by State University of New York libraries and supported by SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grants and SUNY Geneseo.

Saylor Academy Open Textbooks Includes several titles published through Saylor Academy’s Open Textbook Challenge and a collection of titles re-published by Saylor Academy in 2012.
