COVID-19: Library Services

The SU Library is monitoring Stevenson University's guidance on the COVID-19 pandemic.  We will continue to post updates on this page regarding access to library facilities, programs, and services. All library locations have occupancy limitations. Some furniture has been removed to reduce capacity and promote social distancing. Rules for hand hygiene, disinfecting surfaces, and maintaining safe distances from others have been posted and will be enforced. Please observe the Stevenson Social Compact when in the library.

Library Hours

All locations of the SU Library are open; however, the Learning Commons in the MAC will not be staffed during the summer 2021 semester.  There is access to printing/scanning/copying, study rooms, and computers at all three library locations.  Library hours are posted on the top of the library's homepage. We will continue to update this page with the latest closure information.

Along with the rest of the campus, the Library is open to current Stevenson-affiliated patrons only.  We are currently not open to alumni, community patrons, or guests at this time.

Online Reference Services

Reference services are available via our AskUs submission form. Assistance is also available via text to 410-927-5026.

If you would like to arrange to work with a librarian, you can use our Make a Research Appointment form and we'll arrange to meet you on BlueJeans or Microsoft Teams. There will be limited in-person research assistance.

Borrowing and Circulation

In-person browsing of print items, including books, print reserves, journals, DVDs, and Blu-Rays, is now permitted. You may also place a hold request for a specific title in the KOHA catalog and pick up your item at the School of Business or Greenspring library locations. If you have items currently checked out, you can return them to any library location.

Late fines are not currently accruing on any overdue items, but replacement charges will still be assessed for all lost items. Plexiglas barriers are in use at all library locations; whenever possible, please use the virtual services mentioned above to communicate with us.

Access to Collections

Accessing our online services from off-campus couldn’t be easier. Many of our services can be accessed online, including:

  • OneSearch, which provides access to electronic sources, including articles, ebooks, streaming video through Kanopy, and more.
  • Our list of all library databases, including databases by subject, is available to those who want to search in a specific database.
  • ebooks, which can be read online or, in some cases, downloaded to your computer for offline reading.

Study Rooms

Study rooms are available on a limited basis.  The study rooms at the Greenspring and Owings Mills libraries are limited to one person.  At the Learning Commons, two people at a time are permitted in the study rooms.

We are unable to provide supplies such as paper clips, staplers, pens and scissors.

Interlibrary Loan

We are currently processing all interlibrary loan requests. You may request copies of articles or book chapters and loans of print books. Please allow extra time to receive print items as books are being quarantined before delivery and USPS mail service has been experiencing delays.

If you have print ILL items out, please return them to any library location at your earliest convenience.
