We're sorry to say goodbye to Sue Bonsteel, who has been at Stevenson University since 1998 and has been the Library Director since 2015. Spring Instruction from the Library
The SU Library instruction librarians are ready to help you and your students with any information literacy and research instruction you may need this spring. Our librarians can deliver instruction to your students through remote synchronous instruction, asynchronous online lessons, or in-person sessions.
Instruction librarians can also work with you to create research guides and course reading lists, provide streaming content. or put items on reserve for your classes.
Every school and department has a dedicated instruction librarian. Don’t know your librarian? You can find out who to contact here. If you want to reach out and schedule an instruction session, just fill out our instruction request form. |

What Can Research Guides Do for You?
Have you ever considered working with your liaison librarian to create a course guide? Our course guides can take any number of forms, based on your needs and the needs of your students. We can work with you to design guides with a specific assignment in mind and include useful resources just for that assignment. Or they can be designed more generally and provide resources and information for the course more broadly. They can also be a useful platform for pulling together resources from across the internet, our collections, and beyond. Some instructors use them as a repository for eReserves or readings for their students. We can add video clips, Microsoft Forms, Padlet pages, images, scanned documents, and more. For some examples of course guides, check out these links:
FDES/FMER 400: Sustainability in Fashion
ED 510: Psychology and Development of Adolescents
MGT 310: Organizational Behavior
ART 106: Introduction to Art History

LibKey Comes to Stevenson
We are excited to announce that the library has partnered with LibKey. This service allows for anyone in the SU community to both find and access library resources (like journal articles) much more easily and generally with the click of one button. LibKey helps to eliminate the hassle of digging through multiple pages to find the full text of an article.
Additionally, with LibKey Nomad (an add-on to Chrome), users will be able to find articles online with much greater ease. LibKey Nomad helps in much the same way, by surfacing open source/SU purchased material to the front and center making it easier to find PDFs. Full implementation of this service is scheduled for this semester. |

Library Research Award
2020 seems like a long time ago now, but we're asking you to think back (if you dare) and ask yourself: Did any of your students do a research project last year that they should submit for the Library Research Award?
The Library Research Award (LibRA) is an annual contest sponsored by the Stevenson University Library in an effort to recognize exceptional student research. Undergraduate students (individual or in groups) enter a project produced for a course in 2020, along with a short essay describing the research process. Entries will be judged on the quality, scope, and originality of research. The winner will receive a $200 award and have the project archived in SU's institutional repository.
Submissions for LibRA 2021 will be accepted until March 15. More information can be found here.

Collecting COVID Stories Project
The library is still looking for members of the Stevenson University community to contribute to our Collecting COVID Stories Project. If your students produced any content over the last year related to the pandemic, why not encourage them to submit it to the collection? All our teaching and courses were directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Narratives from students, faculty, staff, and other members of the Stevenson community are all welcome.
If you would like to share your teaching experiences this past year with the collection, visit our webpage to find out how you can contribute.
