Library Research Tools for University Advancement

For a beginning session on tools available through the library to help the staff of University Advancement in their work.

Locating a Specific Journal or Magazine

Use the Publication Finder to determine whether the SU Library has a subscription to a specific journal or magazine. Enter the name of the publication, e.g. Chronicle of Higher Education, in the search box. The results will show where you can obtain the full text of this publication.

Recommended Tools

helps you to track references and keep notes on your research.

EBSCO folders: in any EBSCO database, set up a free account that will allow you to save articles and searches to retrieve at a later time.

You can also do this in the library's OneSearch database, which is an EBSCO product as well. OneSearch and library databases are available from the SU Library's homepage.

Bookshelf feature in the Ebrary Database: first create a free account for yourself, then as you browse books in the Master Academic COllection, add them to your Bookshelf. You can create folders to organize by subject or category. Ebrary also allows you to search the fulltext of the entire book.
